Find the people
who should care.
Most ideas fail to find an audience because the audience was never defined. This free tool turns two plain answers into a starting audience hypothesis, a one-line positioning statement, and a simple way to check both with real people.
What it asks you
- What do you offer? A product, service, project, or idea, in your own words.
- Who do you want to reach? The group you think would care most.
- Your main goal: visibility, inquiries, or sales.
What you’ll get
- An audience hypothesis: who you are trying to help, and with what.
- A positioning starter: a one-sentence “We help…” line you can refine.
- A validation step: three conversations and the questions to ask in them.
- A first goal, so you look for real interest before widening the audience.
A quick example
Offer: Websites for independent businesses · Audience: Local business owners
Audience hypothesis: Local business owners who need help with websites for independent businesses.
Positioning starter: We help local business owners make progress with websites for independent businesses.
How to get the most from it
- Be narrower than feels comfortable. “Local bakery owners” beats “small businesses.”
- Treat the result as a guess to test, not a conclusion.
- Talk to three real people before building anything else on top of it.
